The Karnataka government hasn't given up hope of having a single CET. Higher education minister Aravind Limbavali, who released the CET 2009 brochure on Friday, said the government will pursuade Comed-K to hold a single CET so that students needn't appear for two tests.
At present, Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) and Comed-K hold two entrance tests for admission to professional colleges in Karnataka. This year, CET counselling will be held in Hubli and Gulbarga, besides Bangalore.
Engineering seats are likely to increase this year as more private management colleges have applied. The number of colleges which have applied for engineering course has crossed 30. Each can have a minimum of four courses, summing up to 60 seats.
